Four algorithmic compositions

A slight lack of symmetry can cause so much pain explores the visual consequences of arranging pegs without a regular, symmetrical order. A line moves between and around them, creating a composition in which small changes to the underlying arrangement have a large effect on the whole.

Created in 2020 and minted in 2021, the four works belong to the development of Cherniak’s string-and-peg systems. They offer an intimate counterpart to the larger field of variations that would become Ringers.
